What we are required to do.

Every adult involved in a youth athletic activity must complete an approved online concussion awareness course at least once every three years. Free approved courses include the NFHS 'Concussion in Sports' course and the University of Michigan certification course. Keep the certificate: the organizing entity is responsible for proving completion.

The organization must provide MDHHS concussion educational materials to each youth athlete and their parent or guardian before participation, and collect a signed acknowledgment of receipt. Those signed forms must be retained on file.

A youth athlete suspected of sustaining a concussion must be removed from physical participation immediately. They may not return until they have written clearance from a health professional licensed in Michigan whose scope of practice covers concussion. No exceptions, no same-day return.

A current background check is required at all times and must be passed before working with players. A lapse means immediate suspension from all coaching activity until renewed.

SafeSport training specifically. Must be current at all times and completed before working with players. A lapse means immediate suspension.

The 2027 agreement runs from signing through July 31, 2027 and is executed by DocuSign. Each section is initialled and the Area Director or General Manager countersigns.

Pass the 25-question portal test with 80% or better by end of day Saturday, October 17, 2026. Results go straight to the office.

Record pitches per pitcher per game and mark who is ineligible before the next outing. MHSAA already requires this for high school ball, so it is a habit worth holding at every age.
